Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 9 - 1, fighting out of Helsinki, Miguel Sandoval!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Keith Rodgers !
The judges for this bout are John Roberts, Joseph Jones and Jonathan Paton.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sandoval fails to land the takedown.
Sandoval cracks Rodgers with a good jab.
Sandoval misses with a looping left.
Rodgers follows through with a counter body kick but it doesn't land.

Sandoval clinches up with Rodgers and pushes him back against the cage.
A nice right hand lands inside from Rodgers .
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Rodgers .
Rodgers is defending well against a takedown attempt.
Sandoval working some nice short punches in the clinch.
Rodgers tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Sandoval lands a body punch.
Sandoval misses with a punch to the body.
Sandoval blocks an uppercut.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Rodgers 's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.

Sandoval turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Sandoval manages to end up in side control.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Sandoval in side control, throwing shots but Rodgers defends.
Rodgers felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.
Sandoval landing a few strikes.

Sandoval is chipping away with strikes.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Rodgers tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Rodgers parries the strikes from Sandoval easily there. Sandoval is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Rodgers to escape.
Rodgers is looking for a sweep.
Rodgers manages to work his way to half guard, despite Sandoval's best efforts.
Rodgers tries to get to full guard but Sandoval has control of the leg.
Sandoval is just content to waste time from the top position. Rodgers takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
Sandoval trying to control the position from guard on top but Rodgers is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Sandoval avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Rodgers looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Sandoval passes into half guard.
Sandoval wants to take a breather but Rodgers is having none of it.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Rodgers tries to get to full guard but Sandoval has control of the leg.
Sandoval is keen to just control but Rodgers is a slippery customer.

Sandoval is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Rodgers is trying to get back to full guard.
Rodgers on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
Sandoval works his way into side control.
Rodgers tries to bench press Sandoval off him but Sandoval keeps the position.

Rodgers regains half guard.
Sandoval lands strikes from half guard.
Sandoval trying to mount his opponent but Rodgers defends it.

Rodgers looking for submissions off his back.
Rodgers is staying active underneath Sandoval, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Sandoval looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Rodgers with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Rodgers steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Sandoval.
Sandoval throws a hook but Rodgers avoids it easily.
Sandoval looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Sandoval uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Rodgers .
Rodgers throws the left hand but Sandoval avoids the punch easily.

Sandoval darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Rodgers is not content to let Sandoval control the position.
Sandoval is thwarting Rodgers 's attempts to control the position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Rodgers regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Sandoval.
Sandoval is pushing down on Rodgers 's leg trying to pass to half guard. Rodgers is fighting to maintain full guard but Sandoval has managed to sneak the leg through.

Sandoval trying to control from half guard but Rodgers is working away.
Sandoval is really struggling to control Rodgers but he's trying to hold on to the position.
Sandoval landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Still in half guard, Sandoval seems content to control.
Miguel Sandoval overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Rodgers is refusing to be controlled, as Sandoval sits in half guard.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Sandoval throws a strike but Rodgers avoids it easily and moves to full guard.
Sandoval working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Rodgers 's head.

Rodgers has his feet on Sandoval's thighs here. He's pushed Sandoval off and worked for a very quick armbar from the bottom! He's flipped onto his stomach and he's cranking hard on the arm! Sandoval screams in pain and taps out! This one is all over!
