This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the featherweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of New York, with a TWGC record of 46 wins and 28 losses; Masa Wasa! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Montreal, with a TWGC record of 3 wins and 6 losses; Sacha Gardet! The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Darius Henderson and Francis DeMontford.
The fighters connect hands in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Wasa shoots in for a takedown but Gardet shows good takedown defense. We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Gardet has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat. Gardet feints and as Wasa raises his hands in defense, Gardet changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
