Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between John Holmgren (ranked 5133 p4p, 4466 weight class) and Jannik Spinner (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Holmgren comes to the cage accompanied by 800*. John Holmgren has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, John Holmgren! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Jannik Spinner! The judges for this bout are Igor Prikhodko, Vladimir Khabensky and Dmitry Maklakov.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Holmgren fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Spinner feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Spinner stands and steps away. Holmgren gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game. Spinner gets a takedown into half guard. Spinner is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Spinner takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Holmgren trying to control here but he's found himself mounted! Oh no!

Spinner shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Holmgren napping and manages to drive through into side control! Holmgren might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Holmgren is trying to control Spinner's posture but Spinner avoids it. Holmgren sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard. Spinner trying to control the pace. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Holmgren tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land. Spinner works his way into side control. Holmgren definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
That's one minute gone in the round. Spinner decides to stand back up. Spinner moves into the clinch. Holmgren is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Spinner gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Spinner pulls guard successfully.
Holmgren wants to control from the top but Spinner keeps moving. Spinner trying to strike off his back.
Spinner is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Holmgren being controlled here momentarily. The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up. Holmgren trying to control the position from guard on top but Spinner is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Spinner throws a body kick that misses. Holmgren seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Spinner instigates a clinch. Holmgren drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.

That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for John Holmgren. That's going to take a lot out of him. Spinner gets control of Holmgren's arms and successfully pulls guard. Spinner will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back. Holmgren looking to pass the guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Holmgren is looking to pass into half guard but Spinner pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Spinner is in guard. Spinner is looking to work some ground and pound but Holmgren has wrist control. Holmgren lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard. Spinner tries to land a sweep but no joy. Spinner throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land. Holmgren controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Spinner seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Jannik Spinner showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

That's one minute gone in the round. Holmgren stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Spinner swivels though and keeps the full guard. Spinner has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Holmgren can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Spinner has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Spinner controlling Holmgren's posture. Spinner looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Spinner closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Spinner is looking for a kimura but Holmgren is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Spinner to get the leverage. Well, if Spinner is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Holmgren is trying to defend but Spinner finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

And that's the end of the fight! Jannik Spinner comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Spinner has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today.
