PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Paulo Blikstein (ranked 1536 p4p, 2225 weight class) and Rogerio Duarte (ranked 237 p4p, 318 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Rogerio Duarte!
The judges for this bout are Darius Henderson, Ron Honeybunn and Eliza Hachem.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Duarte looking to land some kicks to the body here.
Blikstein swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
Blikstein fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Duarte avoids the body shot from Blikstein.
Blikstein takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Blikstein swings for the body but Duarte moves out of range.
Duarte looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Duarte fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Blikstein manages to avoid it.

Blikstein will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

It looked like Blikstein wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
Duarte throws a shot from downtown. Blikstein moves away and avoids it.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Duarte cracks a nice hook into Blikstein's ribs.

Duarte has been working his punching technique in the buildup to the fight and it appears to be paying off.

Blikstein arches his back and unloads with a massive left and a right! Duarte's eyes roll back into his head, he's out cold! The ref dives in to stop the fight - wow, they were hard shots!
