PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Mmm Mmm (ranked 6086 p4p, 5641 weight class) and Xxx Xxx (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mmm Mmm!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Xxx Xxx!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Wesley Smith and Cecil Peabody.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.
Mmm changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Xxx tries to avoid it but Mmm manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Xxx to the ground. Xxx escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Xxx gets a takedown into half guard.
Xxx trying to control the pace.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
It looks like Xxx might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Mmm is trying to stand back up but Xxx is controlling him
Xxx with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Mmm misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Xxx counters with a body kick.
Xxx displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Mmm.
Xxx steps in looking to counter with the mid kick but it doesn't connect.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mmm Mmm. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Xxx dives in and scores a takedown into Mmm's guard.
Mmm wants to stand and escape but Xxx is having none of it.

Mmm pushes Xxx off and gets back to his feet.
Mmm fails with the takedown.

Horrible takedown attempt by Mmm or perhaps it was just good defense by Xxx, which made it look bad.
Xxx follows through with a counter body kick but it doesn't land.

Mmm fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Xxx to the ground. Mmm is now in Xxx's guard.

Xxx has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Mmm has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Mmm fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Xxx counters with a body kick.
Mmm tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Xxx swivels and escapes.
Xxx tries a quick counter leg kick but Mmm is wise to it.

Xxx throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Mmm tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Xxx is in Mmm's guard.

Mmm pulls Xxx in to control the position.
Mmm is looking to stand up but Xxx isn't so interested in that idea.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Xxx loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Mmm pulls Xxx in close to prevent any damage.
Mmm is trying to hold Xxx in close to prevent damage but Xxx has managed to pass into half guard.
Xxx not doing much here.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Mmm slaps away a takedown attempt from Xxx, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Mmm jinks towards his opponent looking like he wants to counter with a mid kick but doesn't commit.

Xxx shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Mmm manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Mmm looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Xxx puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Xxx performing his best blanket impression for a moment.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Xxx trying to pass the guard but Mmm defending well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Xxx's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Xxx Xxx showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Mmm's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

Mmm tries for a takedown but Xxx sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
And Xxx responds with a good body kick, but Mmm manages to step out the way in time.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Mmm.
Xxx can't do much from the bottom here.
Mmm in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.

Xxx holds on to Mmm's head and controls the position momentarily.

Mmm wants to stand but Xxx has his arm trapped.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
No luck for Xxx with that takedown attempt.
Mmm appears to be looking for a big counter.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Xxx is defended easily by Mmm.
Mmm Mmm has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Xxx Xxx.

Mmm throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body.
Mmm fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Xxx is trying to counter with his kicks.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Mmm shoots in for a takedown but Xxx shows good takedown defense.
And Xxx responds with a good body kick, but Mmm manages to step out the way in time.
Xxx closes the distance and clinches up with Mmm, looking for a takedown. Xxx pushes Mmm against the cage but Mmm circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Mmm jinks towards his opponent looking like he wants to counter with a mid kick but doesn't commit.

Mmm Mmm has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Xxx Xxx is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Mmm regains half guard, as Xxx was trying to land strikes.

And that's the end of the fight!
Mmm Mmm showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Xxx has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
