Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Wallace Everett! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jose Garcia ! The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Ben Hemmingworth and Donatello Bradman.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Everett looking for a takedown here - he's got it. Garcia is working an open guard so Everett takes the opportunity to get back to his feet. Everett dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Garcia avoids the head kick by Everett.
Garcia with the counter takedown but Everett avoids it easily. Everett scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. Everett wants to take a breather but Garcia is having none of it. Everett is thwarting Garcia 's attempts to control the position. Everett perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there. Garcia is trying to get back to full guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Well, if Everett is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Garcia is trying to avoid being dragged into an even worse position than he's already in but Everett is staying active. Everett escapes and gets back to his feet. Everett gets a double leg takedown into Garcia 's guard. Garcia is looking for a triangle but Everett pushes his legs off easily.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Everett engaging in some classic timewasting tactics. Everett gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent. Everett lands a big head kick that sends Garcia to the canvas! Everett follows up with strikes from the mount that forces the ref to step in and stop the fight!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:34 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Wallace Everett! Wallace Everett retains his lightweight title! After winning the bout, Wallace Everett thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
