This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the featherweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of Amsterdam, with a TWGC record of 1 wins and 0 losses; Valen Dreth! And in the blue corner, fighting out of New York, with a TWGC record of 12 wins and 3 losses; John Lee! The judges for this bout are Topper Green, Ben Watson and Francis DeMontford.
The fighters bow as they face eachother in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Lee drives through and clinches with Dreth against the cage.
Dreth gets underhooks to prevent Lee's takedown attempt.
Lee goes for a takedown attempt but Dreth pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Dreth fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Lee to the ground. Dreth is now in Lee's guard. Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: Dreth (2) vs (0) Lee Dreth will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Dreth passes into half guard. Lee wants to control but Dreth is keeping busy and won't allow it. Dreth looking to pass the half guard. Not this time. Lee is doing well to control the position and prevent Dreth from advancing to side control. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Lee gets back to full guard.
Lee is looking to sweep but instead, Dreth has passed into half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Lee is looking to regain full guard. He's left an arm up in the air though and Dreth has latched onto it... Big trouble! Dreth pivots for an armbar - it's in tight and it Lee is tapping in no time flat! Great counter grappling there from Dreth!
