Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Luca Rossi (ranked 4233 p4p, 4455 weight class) and James P. Sullivan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rossi's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Lamu. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Luca Rossi! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, James P. Sullivan! The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Frank Antenori and Timothy Bukovac.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! P. Sullivan tries to clinch there but Rossi circles away.
Rossi staying out of range there. Rossi swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect. Rossi fails with the takedown. Rossi defends well against a solid takedown attempt from P. Sullivan. P. Sullivan lands a nice leg kick that just misses Rossi's sensitive parts. P. Sullivan throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Rossi's waist but Rossi gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing P. Sullivan off to one side. Rossi jabbing away but nothing is landing. P. Sullivan shoots in but no luck this time. Luca Rossi has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of James P. Sullivan. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Rossi keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Rossi tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. P. Sullivan shoots in but doesn't get the takedown enabling Rossi to counter with a crisp jab. The fight stays on the outside here - Rossi looks like he's thinking about clinching though. P. Sullivan shoots in for a takedown but Rossi shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. P. Sullivan misses with a takedown attempt - Rossi sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. P. Sullivan fails in his attempt to clinch. Rossi seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance. The fight stays on the outside here - Rossi looks like he's thinking about clinching though. P. Sullivan wants to clinch up but Rossi keeps it at a distance.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A momentary lapse in concentration from P. Sullivan enables Rossi to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. P. Sullivan manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. Rossi trying to control but P. Sullivan is working from the bottom. P. Sullivan is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Rossi keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of P. Sullivan's head. Rossi has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Rossi throws a big right hand that misses.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Rossi's corner. There ya go! There ya go! P. Sullivan has momentary wrist control but Rossi slips an elbow through the middle. Rossi pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. P. Sullivan is keeping the position for now. P. Sullivan wants to stand and escape but Rossi is having none of it. P. Sullivan avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. P. Sullivan looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Rossi puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard. P. Sullivan is looking to improve his position.
Rossi lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
That's four minutes gone in the round. P. Sullivan tries to roll over but Rossi keeps him under control. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. P. Sullivan looks winded! Rossi stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows P. Sullivan to get to his feet. Rossi has taken the fight to the clinch.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. P. Sullivan's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Rossi will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Luca Rossi dominated that round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! Rossi is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Rossi lands a glancing blow to the side of P. Sullivan's head. Rossi lands a head kick. P. Sullivan smiles back at him and beckons him forward. Rossi displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from P. Sullivan. P. Sullivan tries to clinch so Rossi counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Rossi will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. P. That's one minute gone in the round. The fight stays on the outside here - Rossi looks like he's thinking about clinching though. P. Sullivan shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Rossi as he avoids it easily. P. Sullivan misses with a body shot.
The fight moves into the clinch position. Rossi is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that P. Sullivan can do to turn this around? P. Sullivan breaks the clinch.

P. Sullivan has a takedown stuffed. P. Sullivan is breathing heavily. Rossi shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in P. Sullivan's guard.

Rossi stands up from P. Sullivan's guard - Rossi perhaps looking for a knockout. P. Sullivan shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Rossi pinned against the cage. Rossi gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Rossi shoots for a takedown but P. Sullivan saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Rossi misses with a series of wild punches.
A head kick misses from Rossi. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Rossi shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. P. Sullivan eats them both and turns towards Rossi to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Rossi is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in P. Sullivan's half guard. P. Sullivan moves into full guard.
Luca Rossi overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Rossi won't allow P. Sullivan to sweep him here. Rossi gets to his feet. P. Sullivan looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son! Rossi keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

P. Sullivan fails with a takedown attempt. P. Sullivan misses with a body kick. P. Sullivan tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Rossi paws at him with a jab and circles away. Rossi darts in looking for a takedown but P. Sullivan gets double underhooks and turns Rossi into the cage. P. Sullivan is leaning against Rossi and scores with a nice uppercut to the body. Rossi wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Luca Rossi dominated that second round. That's time! Back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards. Rossi is looking to clinch but P. Sullivan is avoiding it.

James P. Sullivan seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. P. Sullivan throws a head kick that misses. Rossi tries to counter by clinching up but P. P. Sullivan fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Rossi. Rossi fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
That's one minute gone in the round. P. Sullivan fails with a takedown attempt. Rossi is looking to counter the offense by P. Sullivan and move into the clinch. P. Sullivan takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. P. Sullivan tries for a takedown but Rossi circles away easily and Rossi counters with a nice body kick. Luca Rossi has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of James P. Sullivan. P. Sullivan walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Rossi checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side. Rossi seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter. Rossi clinches. Rossi throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but P. Sullivan blocks it with crossed arms. A head punch blocked on the inside by Rossi. P. Sullivan jumps guard and drags Rossi to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Rossi with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. Rossi trying to control the position from guard on top but P. Sullivan is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. P. Sullivan has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Rossi is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for P. Sullivan. P. Sullivan tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Rossi wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Rossi landing with strikes to the head and body from side control. P. Sullivan is not in a great position here, taking some shots.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Rossi connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused P. Sullivan some visible discomfort.
Rossi grinds an elbow into P. Sullivan's temple. P. Sullivan manages to get one leg in to regain half guard. Rossi stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows P. Sullivan to get to his feet. Rossi really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Rossi dives in and scores a takedown into P. Sullivan's guard. P. Sullivan looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Rossi puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard. P. Sullivan is trying to get back to full guard.

He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. Rossi is keen to just control but P. Sullivan is a slippery customer. P. Sullivan looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Rossi working over P. Sullivan with some ground and pound. P. And that's the end of the fight! Luca Rossi showed his dominance in that final round. Well Rossi has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
