The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Frank Dennis and Gwen Towbar.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Surf avoids a punch combination nicely.
Japona throws a right hand that misses
and Surf counters with a single leg into guard. Japona didn't expect that.
Surf is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Surf is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Surf stops Japona from standing up.
Surf slips nicely into half guard.
Surf is looking for a kimura but Japona is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Surf to get the leverage.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Surf seems like he's working for an arm triangle here. He's freed his trapped foot and he's rotating nicely. Japona is in big trouble! He's tapping out! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!
