Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Remi Chavaski (ranked 68 p4p, 130 weight class) and Ricky Luciano (ranked 9 p4p, 15 weight class). Remi Chavaski has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the featherweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Remi Chavaski!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ricky Luciano!
The judges for this bout are Donald Grub, Steven Brown and Daniel Bishop.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Luciano throws a head kick that Chavaski semi-blocks.
Chavaski will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Chavaski moves out of range as Luciano strikes.
Chavaski goes for a double leg but Luciano avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Luciano continues to drive forward.
Chavaski is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Luciano gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Chavaski has Luciano pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Luciano manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Luciano lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.
Chavaski can't get the takedown.
Come on Luciano - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.

and Chavaski counters with a nice double leg into side control. Luciano won't be happy with that.

Chavaski is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Luciano knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Chavaski is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Luciano can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Luciano wants to stand but Chavaski has him controlled and pulls him back into his guard.

Chavaski working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Luciano doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Luciano manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Luciano really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Chavaski. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Chavaski has his foot on Luciano's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Luciano works his way back into a safe position though.
Luciano has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action.

Chavaski swings around for an armbar but Luciano sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Chavaski's guard.

Luciano has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Chavaski to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Luciano is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Chavaski pulls down on the head and he's put Luciano to sleep! This one is all over!
