PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Busch Light (ranked 23318 p4p, 2871 weight class) and African King (ranked 0 p4p, 391 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 8 - 0, fighting out of London, African King!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Light avoids the head kick by King.
Light throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Light misses with a wild combination.
King blocks the body kick.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from King! But no joy.
A decent looking body kick lands there for King.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Light throws a half hearted mid kick.
King slips under a jab from Light.

King closes the distance and clinches.
Light misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from King.
King lands a hook to the side of the head.
Light swings wildly with an uppercut but King uses good head movement to avoid it.

It looks like Busch Light has been cut.
King's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!

King ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. King no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
King is striking but Light is not phased and passes to half guard.
King tries to roll over but Light keeps him under control.

Light stands up over King, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Light postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
King tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Our spies down at at Shut Up & Train! {$1000} inform us that King has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off?

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

King wants to work for an arm triangle but Light is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

King is working for a kimura from half guard. He's really concentrating on the hold and it's allowed Light to slip a leg under and get back to full guard.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

King tries to close the distance and clinch but Light swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

King goes for a takedown attempt but Light pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

King has Light up against the cage in a clinch.
Light crunches a lovely knee into King's ribcage.
King managing to block the knees to the body from Light.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
King lands with a short head shot on the inside.
King tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Light misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Nice body punch from King - that landed with a thud.
King blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.

Light fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. King sprawls well initially but Light persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
King wants to get back to full guard but Light has mounted him!
Light is stalling here but it's allowed King to get half guard.

King tries to lock up and control but Light gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

King wants to control but Light is having none of it.
Light lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

King tries to lock up and control but Light gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Light pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
Light raining down shots from the mount!
Light postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. King looks a forlorn figure.

King can't escape the position.
Light scores with a couple of good head shots there.
Light landing punches.
Light has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of King's face.

King is rocked!
Light with shots to the head and body - King looks very uncomfortable down there.
King is still in real trouble! Can Light finish him?
Oooooh, big shot lands for Light! King is hurt baaadly! Light is firing away with more strikes - King is covering up... the ref is warning him to do something. He's just covering up though still and the ref has to step in to end the fight! This one is all over!
