Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Peguero Jean Philippe (ranked 613 p4p, 828 weight class) and Joe Exotic (ranked 90 p4p, 121 weight class). Philippe comes into the arena with Chant vaudou haitien blaring out of the sound system. Exotic has chosen Joe Exotic - I Saw a Tiger as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Exotic throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
An attempted straight right counter from Philippe misses the target.
A jab lands there for Philippe.
Exotic has done a lot of speed work in the buildup to this fight.

and Exotic counters with a nice body shot.
Philippe throws a series of punches but Exotic moves out of range.

Exotic postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Philippe is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Exotic, into his guard.

Philippe avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Philippe seems to have got his legs back now.
Philippe missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Exotic escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Philippe gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Philippe keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Exotic's head.

The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.
