PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Bryan Gracie (ranked 2241 p4p, 2522 weight class) and Frank Rhodes (ranked 316 p4p, 341 weight class). Gracie comes to the cage accompanied by Limp Bizkit - Rollin'. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Bryan Gracie!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Frank Rhodes!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Timothy Bukovac and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gracie darts in looking for a takedown but Rhodes gets double underhooks and turns Gracie into the cage.
A nice side step and Rhodes releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home.
Gracie creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Rhodes's defenses.

It looks like Frank Rhodes has been cut.

Gracie has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Rhodes uses from the top position.

Gracie working for a triangle but Rhodes defends it easily.

Gracie working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Rhodes doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Rhodes manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Rhodes really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Gracie. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Gracie is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Gracie is looking for a triangle but Rhodes pushes his legs off easily.

Gracie escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Rhodes gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Gracie lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Gracie drops back looking for a submission - "I'm sorry sir, but I'm gunna break your leg" says Gracie as he cranks on the unfortunate limb! Rhodes screams and taps out before any major damage is done! Don't mess with Gracie! Nice submission victory there!

A less than humble Bryan Gracie misjudged his post fight interview somewhat and came across a little too arrogant whilst trying to hype up his own abilities.
