Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Simon Slade (ranked 2531 p4p, 6240 weight class) and Dodong Santiago (ranked 302 p4p, 0 weight class). Slade comes to the cage accompanied by 2 Legit 2 Quit. Santiago has chosen i just want it all as his entrance music. Dodong Santiago has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Simon Slade's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 8 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Simon Slade! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 17 - 18 - 0, fighting out of New York, Dodong Santiago! The judges for this bout are Lou da Vinci, Franklyn Lucas and Russell Pearce.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Slade fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Santiago avoids it really well and circles away. Slade misses with a takedown and Santiago counters with a lovely straight right hand! Santiago misses the shot to the body. Slade moves out of range as Santiago strikes. Slade comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range. Nice defenses there by Slade. Santiago misses with a straight left. Slade appears to be looking for a big counter. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Slade closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Santiago's guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Slade distracts Santiago with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. Slade trying to control but Santiago is working from the bottom. Slade controls from within his opponent's guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Slade prevents Santiago from getting back to his feet. Santiago wants to improve his position but instead Slade has moved into half guard.
Santiago on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Slade sitting and controlling from the half guard. Slade seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Santiago for as long as he can get away with. Slade stands up and beckons Santiago to join him on the feet.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Slade moves out of range of the strikes. Santiago feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Slade sprawling to the canvas! Slade rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Santiago finish him?!
It looks like Simon Slade has been cut. Slade shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Santiago pinned against the cage. Santiago gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Simon Slade. That's going to take a lot out of him. Slade rushes Santiago and presses him up against the cage. Slade tries to score a body lock takedown but Santiago shows good agility there to stay on his feet. Santiago tries to throw a body punch but Slade avoids it by throwing Santiago back against the cage. That's three minutes gone in the round. Santiago keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Slade looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Slade is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound. Santiago is trying to stand back up but Slade is controlling him

That's four minutes gone in the round. Santiago is trying to get back to full guard. Slade decides to stand and escape the position. Slade clinches up against the cage. Slade blocking some punches.
Slade has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Santiago uses from the top position. Slade will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Santiago stands up and waves to Slade to follow him. Santiago gets caught flat footed, as Slade shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Slade won't allow Santiago to sweep him here. Slade slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Dodong Santiago will probably get the nod. The cut man is working on Simon Slade's cut. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! Santiago misses with a right hand and Slade counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Santiago thinking. Slade throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Santiago counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Santiago stuffs the takedown. Santiago ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Slade moves away. Santiago is stalking Slade. Slade circles to his left. Keeps circling left. Bam! Straight right from Santiago, and it's lights out! Slade really payed the price for that rookie mistake.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:24 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Dodong Santiago! A pretty intense looking Dodong Santiago took the opportunity post-fight to ask for a shot at the title.
