PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Timur Vasiliev (ranked 1257 p4p, 1707 weight class) and Lee Tassen (ranked 172 p4p, 220 weight class). Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 6 - 0, fighting out of London, Timur Vasiliev!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 9 - 0, fighting out of New York, Lee Tassen!
The judges for this bout are Richard Clark, James Glass and James Ackerman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Vasiliev closes the distance and clinches.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Tassen thuds his right hand into Vasiliev's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Tassen shoots for a double leg takedown but Vasiliev sprawls well. He's pushed Tassen's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Vasiliev isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Tassen stacks Vasiliev on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Tassen!

Tassen can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Vasiliev is looking to escape.
