Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Arturo Vargas (ranked 783 p4p, 414 weight class) and Rashid Elkhan (ranked 103 p4p, 57 weight class). Rashid Elkhan has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 10 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Arturo Vargas! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 12 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Rashid Elkhan! The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, Sam Margolis and James Glass.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Elkhan throws the left hand but Vargas avoids the punch easily. Some wild striking there from Vargas.
Vargas is looking to clinch. Elkhan walks into a straight right hand from Vargas.
It looks like Rashid Elkhan has been cut. We've been told by Vargas's head coaches at The Proving Grounds that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight. Vargas blocks a jab. Elkhan connects with a good right hand that stumbles Vargas. Vargas circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
It looks like Arturo Vargas has been cut. Elkhan jabs at Vargas's body. Elkhan scores with a jab. Vargas acknowledges it with a nod of the head. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Vargas fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Elkhan looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath. Arturo Vargas seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Vargas looks to throw the jab but Elkhan is out of range. Elkhan throws out a counter right but Vargas avoids it with no problem. Vargas throws a shot from downtown. Elkhan moves away and avoids it. Vargas swings and misses with a shot to the body and Elkhan counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
That's one minute gone in the round. Vargas throws a right hand that Elkhan ducks under and follows up with a left that Elkhan also avoids with ease. Vargas takes a shot to the body in his stride.

and Elkhan counters with a straight punch to the midsection. Vargas is breathing heavily. Elkhan throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Vargas tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Elkhan manages to circle out of the way. Vargas walks straight into a right hand from Elkhan - that's dropped him! Elkhan jumps into mount and starts pounding away - can he finish?! More strikes go undefended and the referee has to dive in to save Vargas from any more punishment! Vargas complains about the stoppage but falls over as he tries to stand back up, so it was clearly a good stoppage.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:25 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Rashid Elkhan! Rashid Elkhan was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
