PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jorlan Vieira (ranked 373 p4p, 389 weight class) and Rav Kapur (ranked 51 p4p, 57 weight class). Rav Kapur told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jorlan Vieira!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 8 - 0, fighting out of London, Rav Kapur!
The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, William Gold and Daniel Bishop.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kapur tries to score a power double leg takedown but Vieira sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Kapur somewhat.
Vieira looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Vieira clobbers Kapur with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.

It looks like Rav Kapur has been cut.
Nice takedown defense from Vieira. No joy for Kapur on that attempt.
Vieira misses with a hook. Kapur ducked under it nicely.
Kapur changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.

Kapur drives through with a takedown into Vieira's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Kapur stops Vieira from standing up.
Kapur is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Vieira on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Vieira tries to get out of the position.

Kapur postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Vieira is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Kapur, into his guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Vieira wants to pass the guard but Kapur is keeping the position.
Kapur looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Vieira wants to control from the top but Kapur keeps moving.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Kapur is adopting a defensive guard.

Vieira avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Vieira throwing strikes from guard but Kapur blocks nicely.

Kapur pulls Vieira in to control the position.

Kapur pulls Vieira in close to his closed guard and prevents Vieira from doing any damage or advancing position.
Vieira trying to control the position from guard on top but Kapur is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Vieira tries to stand but Kapur is controlling from the bottom.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Kapur closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Vieira did well to prevent Kapur getting side control.

Kapur is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Vieira is looking to escape.
Vieira regains full guard. Nicely done.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Kapur advances position into side control!
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Kapur is trying to get an arm triangle but Vieira is defending well.
Vieira is trying to buck Kapur off.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Jorlan Vieira has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Rav Kapur.
Horrible takedown attempt by Kapur or perhaps it was just good defense by Vieira, which made it look bad.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
