Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jack Frost (ranked 2504 p4p, 2196 weight class) and Zhang Wei (ranked 327 p4p, 289 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jack Frost!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 9 - 1, fighting out of Tokyo, Zhang Wei!
The judges for this bout are James Atkins, Sam Margolis and Phil Schofield.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Frost ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.

Wei closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Frost quickly recovers to half guard.
Frost makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Frost.
Frost is adopting a defensive guard.
Frost wants to sweep but no luck.

Frost is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Wei defends well.
Frost keeping moving, preventing Wei from controlling successfully.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Wei is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Wei works over Frost with some ground and pound from guard.
Wei controls from within his opponent's guard.
Wei lands a couple of digs.
Frost is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Frost trying to control from half guard but Wei is working away.

Frost is trying to work for a kimura but Wei is defending well.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Frost missing with the ground and pound from half guard.
Frost trying to control the pace.
Frost is keen to just control but Wei is a slippery customer.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Wei kicks off Frost and gets to his feet.
Some wild striking there from Frost.
Frost throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Nice shot lands for Frost.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Frost fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Frost throws a body punch but Wei moves out of range.
Wei showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Frost.
Wei looks like he wants to counter punch here.

Frost tries to sprawl but Wei drives through with a takedown into half guard.

Frost looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
Frost might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Frost is trying to maintain the position but Wei is very close to passing his half guard.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Frost moves into full guard.
Wei tries to free his leg and advance position but Frost is retaining full guard.
Wei trying to control but Frost is working from the bottom.
Wei showing good wrestling skills to control the position.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Wei looking to sit in guard and control but Frost gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Zhang Wei will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Frost fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Wei manages to avoid it.
Frost waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Wei.
Wei unleashes a big counter combination but Frost bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.

Wei shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Wei working his ground and pound in the gym. So far it seems to be working well.
Frost is looking to improve his position.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Wei throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Frost is in a tricky position but he's been working on his transitions down at Hotrod Express MMA Training, so we'll see if he gets out of it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Wei looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Frost with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Frost looking for submissions off his back.
Wei really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Frost. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Frost actively working from the bottom here.

Wei is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Wei drops an elbow to the side of Frost's head.
Frost taking some punishment here, with Wei in his half guard.
Wei is looking to take a break and control but Frost is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Frost works his way to full guard. Good work.
Wei looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Frost keeping moving, preventing Wei from controlling successfully.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Wei cracks Frost with a solid left hand.
Wei trying to control the position from guard on top but Frost is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Wei content to sit in guard, stalling... Great. Oh but he could get punished here because Frost has locked up a guillotine! Frost's face is contorted as he sqeezes tight on the submission attempt - will he finish? Wei is holding on here and Frost must be using up a lot of energy. Wei has gone limp! He's out! He's out cold! Frost gets to his feet, tossing aside his stricken foe. Arms raised, he milks the applause from the crowd. Great submission!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:38 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Jack Frost!
Jack Frost decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
