PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Jerry Short (ranked 1958 p4p, 3491 weight class) and DreBerto Colon (ranked 120 p4p, 233 weight class). Short comes to the cage accompanied by Survivor - Eye Of The Tiger. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jerry Short!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, DreBerto Colon!
The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, Phil Schofield and Colin Fotheringham.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Colon punishes Short's body with a nice straight punch.
Colon shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Short eats them both and turns towards Colon to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
Colon lunges at Short with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Short's hand.
Short shoots and misses
letting Colon counter with a right hand.
Colon defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Short.
Short shoots in and drives through. Colon sprawls well.

Short has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Short wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Colon, who protects the arm well.

Short tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Short has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Short is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Colon knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Short has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage.

Colon avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Short.
Short looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Colon is avoiding damage well.

Jerry Short overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Colon is holding on to half guard well.

Short is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Colon sees it coming and defends easily.
Short drops an elbow to the side of Colon's head.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Colon tries to roll over but Short keeps him under control.
Short landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Short performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
Short throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Colon wants to improve his position but Short is controlling well.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Short is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Colon defends it well.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!

Short takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Colon throws a one two combo.

It looks like Jerry Short has been cut.
Short misses with a takedown
and Colon counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Short goes for a double leg but Colon avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Colon continues to drive forward.
Colon lands a right hand that snaps the head of Short backwards.
Colon digs a right hand into Short's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Short's gas tank.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Colon lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Short backwards.
Colon lands with a left to the head.
Colon softening up his opponent with strikes, against the cage.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Short has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Colon after a bit of a struggle.

A nice left hand lands by Colon.
Oh Short is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Colon has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.
Colon lands an uppercut in the clinch that drops Short to his knees! Colon keeps firing more shots against his stricken opponent and the referee jumps in to save him!
