Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Mapple Syrup (ranked 24827 p4p, 2661 weight class) and Dwight Schrute (ranked 678 p4p, 360 weight class). Both fighters really staring each other down here, as Dwight Schrute enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 3 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Mapple Syrup! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Dwight Schrute! The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, Donald Grub and Steven Brown.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Syrup gets tackled into the cage by Schrute. Schrute maintains the clinch. Schrute gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground. Syrup pulls Schrute in close to prevent any damage. Schrute tries to free his leg and advance position but Syrup is retaining full guard. Syrup is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Syrup on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Syrup tries to get out of the position. Schrute trying to control but Syrup is working from the bottom. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Schrute tries to free his leg and advance position but Syrup is retaining full guard. Schrute slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Schrute has control of an arm but Syrup manages to advance to Schrute's back!
That's one minute gone in the round. Syrup controls the action. Syrup is persistently looking for the submission but Schrute is defending it well.
Syrup has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of Schrute's body.
Schrute tries to roll but Syrup sticks to his back.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Schrute is still trying to improve position. Syrup knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Schrute on the ground. Schrute rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.
Syrup is thwarting Schrute's attempts to control the position. Syrup slows the pace down in half guard. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Schrute is doing well to control the position and prevent Syrup from advancing to side control.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Syrup throws a big elbow that misses, also allowing Schrute to regain full guard. Syrup content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots. Syrup really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Syrup lands a couple of decent looking shots. Schrute trying to keep a closed guard but Syrup is proving a slippery customer.
Schrute had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Syrup defends it easily. Syrup looking to pass the guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Syrup got a little sloppy there for a moment and Schrute has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Syrup has managed to get both his arms back between Schrute's legs - danger averted. Syrup trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Syrup trying to control the position from guard on top but Schrute is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Syrup controlling from the top position. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Syrup wants to stand but Schrute is controlling his posture from full guard. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Dwight Schrute will probably get the nod. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. Schrute connects with a high kick.
It looks like Mapple Syrup has been cut. Syrup feints and as Schrute raises his hands in defense, Syrup changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Syrup is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Schrute is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Syrup is aware though and is defending well. Syrup preventing the sweep. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Syrup makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard. Schrute has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall. Schrute lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Syrup looking for subs off his back but Schrute has passed one foot through into half guard.
Schrute seems to be working for a kimura but Syrup defends the submission attempt. Mapple Syrup overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Schrute is just content to waste time from the top position. Syrup takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Schrute trying to control the position from guard on top but Syrup is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Schrute stopping the sweep attempt from Syrup. Syrup has momentary wrist control but Schrute slips an elbow through the middle. Syrup keeping moving, preventing Schrute from controlling successfully. Syrup wants to control the position but Schrute says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard. My spies in Catch Wrestling L.A. inform me that Schrute has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends! Schrute is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Dwight Schrute showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The cut man is working on Mapple Syrup's cut. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Schrute decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Syrup wants to improve his position but Schrute is controlling well.

Syrup blocking the ground and pound attempt from Schrute. Schrute moves into side control, avoiding a weak kimura attempt from Syrup. Schrute tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Syrup keeps Schrute under control for a moment. Dwight Schrute is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Schrute wants to control but Syrup is keeping him busy. Syrup seems a little lost for a moment, as Schrute dominates the positioning. Syrup tries to control but Schrute manages to take his back. Schrute is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Syrup is defending well though. Schrute let's go of the attempt for now.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Syrup fending off the submission attempt from Schrute. Schrute is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Syrup knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Syrup for a finish. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Syrup is trying to stand back up.
And that's the end of the fight! Dwight Schrute comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Schrute has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
