The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ries staying out of range there.
Cartwright keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Cartwright shoots in but no luck this time.
Cartwright sizes up Ries with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Cartwright fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Ries avoids it really well and circles away.
Cartwright lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Ries circles away quickly and effectively.
Ries was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
Cartwright lands a jab-cross combination.
Ries lands a head kick!
No luck with that takedown attempt from Cartwright.
Eric Ries has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Punchy Cartwright.
Cartwright throws out a loose jab but Ries uses good head movement to avoid it.
A slapping body kick lands there for Ries.

Cartwright fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Ries to the ground. Cartwright is now in Ries's guard.

Cartwright wants to counter with a clinch but Ries pushes him away.
Cartwright looks to score with a jab to the body but Ries is just out of range.
Cartwright throws a right and a left that Ries avoids nicely.
Ries lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
Ries digs a good body shot into Cartwright's ribs.
Eric Ries is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Sloppy strikes from Cartwright. Those never looked like landing.
Ries appears to be looking for a big counter.
Ries turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Ries explodes with a nice body kick and back out of range. Nice work.

Cartwright goes for a double leg but Ries avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Ries continues to drive forward.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Cartwright shoots in for a takedown but Ries shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Cartwright avoids the head kick by Ries.
Cartwright throws a front kick aimed at Ries's knee but Ries avoids it well.
Cartwright avoids the head kick by Ries.
Cartwright darts in looking for a takedown but Ries gets double underhooks and turns Cartwright into the cage.
A slapping leg kick lands for Ries.

Ries cracks Cartwright with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Ries takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
Cartwright takes a kick to the side of the head.

Cartwright looks to land a combination but Ries avoids it well.
Ries lands a really nice looking cross but Cartwright seems unphased.
Cartwright avoids a punch combination nicely.
Cartwright drops his hands momentarily and Ries needs no second invitation. He sets himself and throws a perfect high kick, that clips Cartwright just on the top of the head. Cartwright drops like a sack of potatoes to the canvas, out cold! Oooooooh yeah! Stick a fork in Cartwright - he's done!
