Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Kaoru Hanayama (ranked 1681 p4p, 2336 weight class) and White Rain (ranked 233 p4p, 321 weight class). Hanayama comes to the cage accompanied by Plan Three - Triggers. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 9 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kaoru Hanayama! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 11 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, White Rain! The judges for this bout are Jorge Garcia, John Roberts and Reed Andrews.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hanayama changes levels and scores with a jab to the body. Rain pulls out of a head kick attempt.
White Rain seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Rain throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Hanayama sees it coming and avoids it easily. A head kick misses from Rain. Rain uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Hanayama. Hanayama bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Rain's head backwards. Hanayama swings widly with a right hand
and Rain counters with a leg kick. Hanayama sizes up Rain with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle. Rain misses with an uppercut. Hanayama saw that one coming. Rain's coach down at Heavy Metal was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Rain's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight. Rain lands an overhand right. Nice defenses there by Rain. Hanayama uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Rain has time to react. Nice straight punches there by Rain. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Rain. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Hanayama on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those. Rain throws a chopping leg kick but Hanayama manages to avoid taking any serious damage. Hanayama has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Rain. Rain throws a combination that misses and Hanayama counters with a stiff right hand. Rain lands with a cross. Rain pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Hanayama moves to clinch but Rain breaks away and Rain connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

Hanayama has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance. Hanayama digs a right hand underneath Rain's ribcage. Hanayama is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all. A lazy left from Rain finds it's target. An inside leg kick lands from Rain. Hanayama takes one on the button. This has been an exciting period of action! Rain darts in trying to clinch and Hanayama counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Hanayama ducks down and throws a hook to the body. Hanayama throws the left hand but Rain avoids the punch easily. A slow jab from Hanayama misses its intended target.

The fight stays on the outside here - Hanayama looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Hanayama loads up on a big right hand but Rain slips the punch. Rain throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Hanayama counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt. Good shot there by Hanayama. Rain lands a nice hook to Hanayama's body. Hanayama takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes. Rain slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range. A good leg kick by Rain. Rain scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent. Rain lands a nice shot to the body.
Hanayama lands the left hand. Rain tries to clinch but Hanayama moves out of range. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Hanayama throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Hanayama bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut. Rain stuns Hanayama with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Hanayama takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch. Hanayama tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Rain was well out of range. Poor timing from Hanayama. Rain feints and then cracks Hanayama's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Hanayama down. Hanayama connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe. Rain fakes a jab and scores with a low kick. Rain is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Hanayama takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Hanayama is rocked! Rain moves in close and cracks Hanayama with a massive right hand! Hanayama, frozen momentarily in time, tumbles to the canvas, already out cold! A brutal knockout by Rain!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:36 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). White Rain! White Rain decided to hype himself up post fight. It was going well but he went on about it a bit too long and the crowd turned on him a little.
