CWC 270 PBP Commentary |
This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the lightweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of Las Vegas, with a TWGC record of 9 wins and 10 losses; Bart Cubbedge ! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Las Vegas, with a TWGC record of 14 wins and 13 losses; Joshua Brown!
The judges for this bout are Dean Styles, Chad Campbell and Reed Andrews.
The official calls the fighters to the middle and the contest is under way.
Cubbedge shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Brown holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Cubbedge is looking for a takedown.
Brown jumps into guard, dragging Cubbedge to the mat.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Brown felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.

Brown stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Cubbedge swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Brown is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Cubbedge knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
