This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the featherweight division. Introducing today's competitors. And in the blue corner, fighting out of London, with a TWGC record of 38 wins and 23 losses; Rodney Holzken! The judges for this bout are Leandro Rodrigues, Edson Gomes and Mauricio Rocha.
The fighters connect hands in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Holzken closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: Archer (0) vs (2) Holzken My spies in Shut Up & Train! {$1000} inform me that Holzken has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends! Holzken trying to pass the guard but Archer defending well. Archer is trying to get back to full guard. We've been hearing good reports from Archer's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Archer tries to control Holzken's body but Holzken pushes him off. Archer squirms to his side and now Holzken has his back! He has the arm isolated but Holzken is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Holzken tries to get back to half guard but can't. Archer wants to lay and pray for a moment but Holzken keeps working. Holzken is looking to regain half guard here but Archer keeps moving and retains side control.

Archer is working hard here to advance position. Holzken slips a leg in and gets back to half guard. Archer is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Holzken is just riding it out for now. Archer eventually gives up the hold. Holzken is defending against the submission attempts here by Archer.

Holzken tries to hold on but Archer postures up. Archer tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Holzken bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal!
