Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ruslan Karelin (ranked 1102 p4p, 702 weight class) and Boo Lee (ranked 154 p4p, 99 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Lee's choice of entrance music: Mama Said Knock You Out. Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 12 - 7 - 0, fighting out of London, Ruslan Karelin! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 40 - 26 - 3, fighting out of New York, Boo Lee! The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Percy O'Donnell and Timothy Bukovac.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Karelin lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head. Nice defenses there by Lee. Lee doesn't fully commit to the body shot counter. Lee misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Karelin.
Karelin lands with a hook. Lee tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head. Lee ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Karelin moves away. Karelin lands with a straight right. Lee didn't see that one coming. Ruslan Karelin seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Lee moves into the clinch. Lee tries to throw a body punch but Karelin avoids it by throwing Lee back against the cage. Karelin lands a body punch. Lee breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Lee closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Karelin's guard. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Karelin has his foot on Lee's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Lee works his way back into a safe position though. Lee is looking to work some ground and pound but Karelin has wrist control. Lee got a little sloppy there for a moment and Karelin has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Lee has managed to get both his arms back between Karelin's legs - danger averted. Karelin had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Lee defends it easily. Lee postures up.

That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Lee trying to control the position from guard on top but Karelin is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Lee stands up from Karelin's guard - Lee perhaps looking for a knockout. Karelin gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. A nice left hand lands by Karelin.

The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky. Lee turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Lee manages to end up in side control. Karelin tries to buck Lee off but Lee is having none of it.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Lee is looking to take a break and control but Karelin is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. That was a close round but I would say that Ruslan Karelin will probably get the nod. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. Karelin connects with the punch. Karelin swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Lee. Nice defenses there by Lee. Karelin doesn't manage to clinch there - Lee circles away.

Karelin throws out a loose jab but Lee uses good head movement to avoid it. Karelin throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

Karelin closes the distance and clinches. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Karelin landing knees to the body.
Lee lands an uppercut. Karelin lands a nice uppercut. Karelin jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Lee walks away with a smile on his face. Karelin gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. Karelin misses with a looping right. Karelin fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.

Lee defending well as Karelin loads up on a big left hand. Karelin shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard. Ruslan Karelin overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Lee wants to control but Karelin is keeping busy.

Both fighters are looking very determined. Lee has his opponent's back and is working for the choke. Karelin fending off the submission attempt from Lee. Lee is hanging on to Karelin's back as he tries to escape.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Lee looking for the RNC. Lee gets his hands free as Karelin looks to control. Karelin is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Lee gets his way!

And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Ruslan Karelin. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Karelin, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent.
