Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 30 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Zheko Melondov!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 27 - 21 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Aiu BangYou!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Percy O'Donnell and Don Winkell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A good leg kick by BangYou.
BangYou misses with a lunging right hand
and Melondov makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
A looping hook to the body misses from Melondov. BangYou does a little dance to reset his feet.
BangYou throws out a loose jab but Melondov uses good head movement to avoid it.
Melondov lands a left and a right that send BangYou crashing to the mat, dazed. Melondov thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!
It looks like Aiu BangYou has been cut.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Melondov keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from BangYou.
BangYou thows a left - swing and a miss!
Melondov was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
Melondov avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
A telegraphed right hand from BangYou misses the target.
Melondov throws a body punch but BangYou moves out of range.
BangYou defending well as Melondov loads up on a big left hand.
Melondov thows a left - swing and a miss!
That's one minute gone in the round.
A head kick misses from BangYou.
Melondov keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from BangYou.
The fighters circling - Melondov throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
BangYou was about to counter that last move with a leg kick but changes his mind.
BangYou throws a hook to the side of Melondov's head but Melondov sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
BangYou throws a right hand that misses
and Melondov counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps BangYou thinking.
Melondov throws a big shot that misses.
Melondov blocks a head kick by BangYou.
A little feinted left hand from Melondov on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
BangYou throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
BangYou bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick.
BangYou takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Melondov checks the leg kick.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Melondov misses with a wild body shot.
Melondov feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends BangYou sprawling to the canvas! BangYou rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Melondov finish him?!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Melondov throws a predictable looking body shot
and BangYou counters with a nice uppercut.
BangYou misses with a left hand
and Melondov counters with a big right hand! Oh BangYou is in trouble here! Melondov follows up with more strikes and that's it! The ref has stopped it!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:28 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Zheko Melondov!
A very excited looking Zheko Melondov made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
