PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Matt Baldwin (ranked 2990 p4p, 4662 weight class) and Jake Paul (ranked 292 p4p, 0 weight class). Baldwin kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is London Calling. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Jake Paul!
The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, James Glass and Donald Grub.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Baldwin gets a double leg takedown into Paul's guard.

Paul working for a triangle but Baldwin defends it easily.
Baldwin throwing strikes from guard but Paul blocks nicely.
Baldwin trying to control the position from guard on top but Paul is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Baldwin is stalling in the full guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Baldwin trying to stand up but can't free himself from Paul's guard.
Baldwin has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Baldwin wants to control from the top but Paul keeps moving.
Paul is controlling Baldwin's posture.
Paul wants to get back to his feet but Baldwin is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Baldwin wanted to stand there but Paul had control of the position.
Baldwin trying to control but Paul is working from the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Baldwin lands a couple of digs.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Baldwin scoring with some ground and pound.
Baldwin looking to sit in guard and control but Paul gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Paul trying to control but Baldwin is working from the bottom.
Baldwin is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Paul passes into half guard.

Baldwin tries to roll over but Paul keeps him under control.
Paul is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!
Paul can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Baldwin is looking to escape.
Baldwin tries to hold on but Paul pushes him away.
Paul looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.

Baldwin is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Paul blocks Baldwin's feeble attempts to strike from the bottom.
Baldwin can't escape the position.
Baldwin wants to control but Paul is having none of it.
Paul content just to control the position here.
Paul is landing with some decent strikes but Baldwin is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Paul can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Baldwin is looking to escape.
Baldwin tries to hold on but Paul pushes him away.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Jake Paul dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Baldwin tries to close the distance and clinch up but Paul swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Paul feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Baldwin is trying to control the position but Paul postures up.

Baldwin isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Paul stacks Baldwin on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Paul!
Baldwin tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Paul wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Baldwin on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Baldwin tries to get out of the position.
Baldwin tries to control but end up mounted... ooooh, that's bad.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Paul lands a nice shot to the head.
Paul looking to finish Baldwin with some ground and pound. This is bad for Baldwin!

Baldwin is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Jake Paul has got the better of the ground game so far.

Paul looking for a guillotine from mount but Baldwin is having none of it.
Baldwin wants to control but Paul is having none of it.

Paul lands a heavy elbow.
Paul scoring with strikes but Baldwin is staying in there.
Paul trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Baldwin tries to lock up and control but Paul gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Paul trying to control but Baldwin is having none of it.
Paul throwing shots from mount but they're not landing.

Paul misses with a head shot.
Paul lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
Paul working away from the top, dropping strikes.
Paul has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Baldwin tries to strike from the bottom but he's left himself exposed and Paul has taken his back.
Paul scores with some strikes to the side of the head there. Good, points scoring shots.

Paul sinks in the hooks and is looking for the choke. He's got it! Baldwin taps out!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:51 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Jake Paul!
