Let's get this grappling contest under way! Who will be victorious? Saltzman fails with the takedown. Nucombe moves into the clinch. Nucombe is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Saltzman pulls him back up using the underhooks. Saltzman is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though. Nucombe wants the takedown. Saltzman is fighting it off but Nucombe persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Saltzman's guard against the cage. Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: Nucombe (2) vs (0) Saltzman Nucombe slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Saltzman had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Nucombe defends it easily. Nucombe looking to control the position here, rather than advance. That's one minute gone in the round. Saltzman is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Nucombe is aware though and is defending well. Saltzman is adopting a defensive guard. Saltzman looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Nucombe looking to pass the guard. Saltzman has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Nucombe can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Nucombe looking to control the position here, rather than advance.

Saltzman tries to land a sweep but no joy. Nucombe wants to pass the guard but Saltzman is keeping the position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Nucombe is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Nucombe sitting in guard doing not very much at all here. Saltzman doesn't need a second invitation though! He's locked up a guillotine and he's squeezing tight! That is tiiiiiiiiight! Nucombe paying the price for stalling here - he's pushing hard on the arm trying to free himself but it's no use! He's tapped! WOW, quick submission from Saltzman - great work!
