This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the middleweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of Helsinki, with a TWGC record of 6 wins and 2 losses; Moe Lester! And in the blue corner, fighting out of New York, with a TWGC record of 3 wins and 0 losses; Kyle Kuzma! The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, Colin Fotheringham and James Atkins.
The fighters bow as they face eachother in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Kuzma has managed to clinch.
We've been informed that Kuzma has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result. Lester has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Kuzma after a bit of a struggle. Kuzma is looking for a takedown. Lester drops down looking for an ankle pick but Kuzma pulls his leg out and moves away.
Kuzma gets tackled into the cage by Lester. Lester maintains the clinch. Lester prevents a takedown attempt there.
Kuzma is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though. Moe Lester has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kyle Kuzma. Lester can't get the takedown.

Kuzma stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Lester swivels though and keeps the full guard. Kuzma is still trying to improve position. That's ten minutes gone in the round. The referee asks Kuzma politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Kuzma prefers to stall for the moment though. Lester regains half guard. Kuzma content to sit in half guard and control for a moment. Kuzma prevents Lester from improving his position. Kuzma looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
That's eleven minutes gone in the round. Kuzma stalling away here and it's allowed Lester to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard. Lester controlling Kuzma's posture. Lester pulls Kuzma in close to his closed guard and prevents Kuzma from doing any damage or advancing position. Kuzma is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. Kuzma tries to free his leg and advance position but Lester is retaining full guard.

And that's the end of the fight! Kuzma wins on points by 5 to 2. Kyle Kuzma decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way. |
