The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Contreiras walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Contreiras misses with a straight left.
Giles throws a big shot that misses.
Giles blocks a jab.
Contreiras has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Contreiras throws a right hand that misses
and Giles holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Contreiras blocks an uppercut.
Contreiras breaks the clinch.
Giles misses with an uppercut
and Contreiras counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Giles uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Contreiras.
Giles fails with an attempt to clinch.
Contreiras displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Giles throws out the jab.
Giles instigates a clinch.
Contreiras tries to break the clinch but Giles is controlling the position.
Contreiras breaks from the clinch.
Contreiras tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Giles was well out of range. Poor timing from Contreiras.
Giles misses with a takedown attempt - Contreiras sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Giles moves out of range as Contreiras strikes.
Giles closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Giles has a couple of punches blocked by Contreiras.
Contreiras wants to get back to striking at distance but Giles won't allow it.
Giles takes a shot to the head.
Contreiras blocks a body shot from Giles.
A nice right hand lands inside from Contreiras.
Contreiras breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Giles goes for a double leg but Contreiras avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Contreiras continues to drive forward.
Contreiras throwing a counter right hand but Giles manages to avoid it.
No joy there for Contreiras, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Giles tries for a takedown but Contreiras circles away easily
and Contreiras counters with a stiff right hand.
Victor Contreiras has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Wade Giles.
Giles avoids the body shot from Contreiras.
Giles changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
