PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Snail Tail (ranked 1579 p4p, 2784 weight class) and Jack McGregson (ranked 211 p4p, 351 weight class). Jack McGregson is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Snail Tail!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Jack McGregson!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Don Winkell and Percy O'Donnell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McGregson lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Tail at a distance.

and Tail counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Tail.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

McGregson escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Tail gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Tail drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Tail jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
McGregson has been taking part in the yoga sessions down at Cali Gym. Presumably he's going to look for a slick submission... Or maybe he's looking to avoid one.

Tail got a little sloppy there for a moment and McGregson has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Tail has managed to get both his arms back between McGregson's legs - danger averted.

We've been hearing good reports from Tail's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

Tail seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down McGregson for as long as he can get away with.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Tail, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
