PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between James Cole (ranked 168 p4p, 228 weight class) and Sao Alela (ranked 22 p4p, 31 weight class). Alela has chosen Ground Zero (MOP) as his entrance music. The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 18 - 8 - 2, fighting out of New York, James Cole!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Sao Alela!
The judges for this bout are Shirou Masuda, Yukihiro Shimada and Yuuki Gou.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Alela with the inside leg kick.
Alela lands with an uppercut that bounces Cole off the cage and back into range.
Alela throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Alela takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Alela has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Cole scores with a shot to the body.
A punch lands to the side of Cole 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Cole missing with a left hand there. Alela was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Cole uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Alela.
Cole moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Cole displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Alela throws out the jab.
Nice uppercut there from Alela.
Alela takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Alela lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Alela.
Alela jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Cole tries to move into range but Alela moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
Alela throws a head kick that misses.
Cole loads up on a big right hand but Alela slips the punch.
Cole goes for a high kick. It partially lands.

Alela scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
The fight stays on the outside here - Alela looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Cole digs a good hook to Alela's body.
Cole has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.

Sao Alela seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Cole moves out of range as Alela throws a body kick.

It looks like Sao Alela has been cut.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Alela throws a nice looking combination but Cole bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Cole tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
A lazy left from Cole finds it's target.

Cole lands a big head kick that sends Alela tumbling to the mat! Cole takes a step backwards and waves Alela back to his feet - he wants the finish!

Alela is rocked!
Cole throws out a powerful jab.
Alela is still on wobbly legs! Can Cole finish him?
Cole misses the shot to the body.
Cole lands a jab and follows it up with a massive straight that knocks Alela out cold! Alela is crumpled in the corner, his head only propped up by the cage! That's one for the organiziational promos right there! Wow, what a finish!

James Cole tried to hype himself up post fight but didn't word it too well and it ended up with him sounding like a bit of a tool.
