Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.

With a record of 20 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Chad Smith!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Fujiwara, Shirou Masuda and Taro Takaoka.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smith staying out of range there.

Smith moves into range and clinches up with Mercenary.
Smith tries to work over Mercenary's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
A head punch blocked on the inside by Smith.
Mercenary misses with a short punch on the inside.
Mercenary lands with a right to the head.
An uppercut to the body lands inside from Smith.
Smith blocks a couple of punches on the inside.

Smith breaks the clinch.
Smith feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Mercenarys jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!

Smith moves into the clinch successfully.
A short body shot lands from Smith as the two fighters clinch.
Smith blocks an uppercut.
Smith blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Mercenary misses with some punches.
Mercenary fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Mercenary blocks an uppercut.
Mercenary tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Mercenary lands a left hand that snaps the head of Smith backwards.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Mercenary tries to land a knee to the head but misses.
Smith lands an elbow inside.

It looks like Medieval Mercenary has been cut.
Mercenary looking to throw knees to the head but Smith is blocking nicely.
Mercenary throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Smith blocks it with crossed arms.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Mercenary misses with a short punch on the inside.
Smith stays in close to his opponent and throws a right hand to the body.
Smith throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Mercenarys head.
Mercenary working some nice short punches in the clinch.
Smith throws a head punch that misses.
Still in the clinch, Mercenary scores with a nice short uppercut.
Mercenary prevents a body shot from Smith.
An uppercut to the body lands inside from Smith.
We've been informed that Smith has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result.
The referee is keeping an eye on Smith - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
Mercenary pushes Smith back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.
Smith lands with a left to the head.
Smith fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Smith scores with a hook to the body.
Mercenary tries to land a knee to the head but Smith blocks with his arms.
Smith tries to throw a body punch but Mercenary avoids it by throwing Smith back against the cage.
Mercenary misses with a punch to the body.
Smith misses with the head strike.

Smith breaks from the clinch.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Smith connects with a looping right hand.
Smith moves into range and connects with a jab.

Mercenary is rocked!
Smith cracks Mercenary with a nasty uppercut that draws ooohs from the crowd and sends Mercenary tumbling backwards onto the mat. He tries to recover but Smith pounces and lands a hail of unanswered strikes that forces the referee to step in to end the fight! Mercenary is not happy but he gave the referee no choice!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:05 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Chad Smith!
