PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Jackson Smith (ranked 4391 p4p, 4335 weight class) and Bob Killer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Jackson Smith!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Bob Killer!
The judges for this bout are Paul Gruel, Ryoma Takatsuka and Micheangelo Fripello.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Killer shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Smith as he jumps to the side.

Smith working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Killer doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Killer manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Smith had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Killer defends it easily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Smith doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.

Smith avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Killer.
Killer is trying to control the action in half guard but Smith is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Smith is looking to get back to is feet but Killer passes into side control.
Smith is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.

Killer is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Smith knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Killer is staying tight to Smith's torso, preventing him from escaping.

It looked like Smith was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.

Smith is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Killer is keeping busy.

Killer gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Smith regains guard.
Smith wants to stand up but Killer is controlling him.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Bob Killer will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Killer shoots in looking for a takedown but Smith manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Killer's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Killer feints and as Smith raises his hands in defense, Killer changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Smith looking for a triangle here. Killer is fighting it but it looks tight! Smith pulls the arm across and this one won't last much longer! Nope, Killer is tapping out - this one is all over!
