Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Royce Gracie (ranked 3227 p4p, 3452 weight class) and Simo Halli (ranked 417 p4p, 445 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Gracie might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Jiu Jitsu by Smoke Serpent. Simo Halli has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gracie closes this distance looking for a takedown but Halli circles away.
Halli closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Gracie quickly recovers to half guard.
Gracie looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Halli is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Halli wants to pass the guard but Gracie is defending well.
Halli wants to take a breather but Gracie is having none of it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

My spies in Old Irish’s Fighter Factory inform me that Halli has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!
Gracie is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Halli pulls his head out easily.
