Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jaren Johnson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, David Shaw!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Timothy Bukovac and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shaw fails with the takedown.
Johnson darts in looking for a takedown but Shaw gets double underhooks and turns Johnson into the cage.
Shaw unleashes a big counter combination but Johnson bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.
Shaw is trying to pull guard but Johnson has him pressed against the cage.
Shaw has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Johnson is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Shaw closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Shaw tries to stand and escape but Johnson is controlling the position.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Shaw closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Johnson quickly recovers to half guard.

Shaw is looking for a kimura but Johnson is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Shaw to get the leverage.

Shaw wants to work for an arm triangle but Johnson is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Shaw is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Johnson is just riding it out for now. Shaw eventually gives up the hold.

Johnson stuffs the takedown.
Johnson misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Shaw fails to land with a series of punches.

Johnson gets caught flat footed, as Shaw shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Shaw bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Johnson is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Shaw has just dragged him back down to the mat.

Shaw has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Johnson is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Shaw yanks on the arm and Johnson is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Shaw.
