PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Roger Gracie (ranked 5399 p4p, 3849 weight class) and Swag Surf (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gracie comes to the cage accompanied by TOP 10 ROGER GRACIE SUBMISSIONS. The fight MMA fans around the world have waited their entire lives for!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Roger Gracie!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Swag Surf!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Wesley Smith and Frank Dennis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gracie looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Surf shoots in for a takedown but Gracie shows good takedown defense.
Gracie misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Surf dives in for a single leg takedown but Gracie sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Surf is defended easily by Gracie.
Roger Gracie has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Swag Surf.
Surf darts in looking for a takedown but Gracie gets double underhooks and turns Surf into the cage.
Gracie was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.

Surf fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Gracie sprawls well initially but Surf persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Surf seems to be looking for submissions.
Surf working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Surf drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Surf jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Surf is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Gracie looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Surf is working Gracie over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Surf is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Surf postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Gracie is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Surf working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Gracie's head.

Surf drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Surf jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Surf must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Surf drops back looking for a leg! Gracie is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Gracie manages to kick Surf off! Surf jumps back into Gracie's guard.
Surf cracks Gracie with a solid left hand.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Swag Surf dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Gracie is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Surf has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Surf drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Gracie dives on top into guard.


Surf pushes Gracie off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.

Surf cracks Gracie with a big elbow.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Surf wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Gracie, who protects the arm well.

Surf tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Surf has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Gracie tries to bench press Surf off him but Surf keeps the position.

Surf thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Surf has control of Gracie's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Gracie regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Surf fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!

Surf is controlling this nicely and is looking to make no mistakes. Gracie is trying to wiggle out of this horrible position. Gracie flips to his side and attempts to get a leg in for half guard. Surf anticipates the leg and manages to get behind Gracie and secures both hooks! This could be bad! Surf slips an arm under Gracie chin and tries to position for a rear naked choke. Surf has worked the choke in now and it looks tight. Surf is squeezing on Gracie like an anaconda would it's prey. Gracie fails to tap and has fallen unconscious! We've got ourselves a winner by way of a rear naked choke!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:34 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Swag Surf!
