Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Curtis Rome!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Yasha Fillipov!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, George Francis and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Rome shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Rome is taking a breather. Fillipov says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Rome is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Fillipov has managed to free his arm - good work.
Rome is trying to control. Fillipov wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Rome content to control rather than advance.

That's one minute gone in the round.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

Rome is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Fillipov sees it coming and defends easily.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Rome missing with the ground and pound from half guard.

Rome is working for a kimura but Fillipov is defending it quite comfortably.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Rome seems to be looking for submissions.
Rome content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Horrible takedown attempt by Rome or perhaps it was just good defense by Fillipov, which made it look bad.
Rome misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Rome gets a takedown into half guard.
Rome is controlling the pace.

Rome wants to work for an arm triangle but Fillipov is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Rome's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Rome closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Fillipov quickly recovers to half guard.
Rome is controlling the pace.
Rome wants to stand up but Fillipov has a hold of him and won't allow it.

Rome throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Rome wants to free his trapped foot but Fillipov is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Rome works his way into side control.
Fillipov manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.

Rome passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Fillipov!

Rome looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.

Rome controlling the pace for now.

Rome goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Fillipov turns into him and now he's in Rome's guard.
Rome trying to keep a closed guard but Fillipov is proving a slippery customer.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Rome looking for a sweep. Not yet Rome, not yet.
Fillipov seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Rome had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Fillipov defends it easily.
Curtis Rome overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Rome throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Rome is striking but Fillipov is not phased and passes to half guard.
Rome is refusing to be controlled, as Fillipov sits in half guard.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!

Rome changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Fillipov tries to avoid it but Rome manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Fillipov to the ground. Fillipov escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Rome throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Fillipov tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Rome is in Fillipov's guard.
Rome trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Fillipov looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Rome passes into half guard.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Fillipov tries to regain full guard. Instead though, Rome has advanced to mount. Uh oh.

Rome controlling the position easily from mount.
Fillipov blocking the ground and pound.
Rome is looking to stand but Fillipov has his arms wrapped tightly around him, looking to prevent the damage.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Rome forces the positional change into back control.
Rome controlling from the back.

Fillipov fending off the submission attempt from Rome.
Fillipov looking very determined here, making life difficult for Rome.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Rome controlling the position well here. Fillipov rolled but Rome kept the hooks locked in and stayed in the dominant position.
Rome trying to control.
Fillipov manages to reverse the position and now he's in Rome's guard. Nice work there by Fillipov.
Rome is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Fillipov can do to turn this around?

Fillipov stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Rome swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Rome is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Rome throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
Rome trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Rome has his feet on Fillipov's thighs here. He's pushed Fillipov off and worked for a very quick armbar from the bottom! He's flipped onto his stomach and he's cranking hard on the arm! Fillipov screams in pain and taps out! This one is all over!
