Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Catchy Cartwright (ranked 874 p4p, 2590 weight class) and John Frost (ranked 100 p4p, 259 weight class). Cartwright comes to the cage accompanied by Spiders. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the featherweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Catchy Cartwright!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, John Frost!
The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Hugh Johnson and Chris Dean.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Frost takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Frost throws a low kick but Cartwright avoids it.
Frost lands with a nice body punch.
Cartwright fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Frost manages to avoid it.
Frost is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Cartwright moves into range and clinches up with Frost.
Cartwright drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Frost gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Frost breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Cartwright swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Cartwright misses with a left hand
and Frost counters with a left to the body.
A combination from Frost does no damage.
Catchy Cartwright seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Cartwright looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.
Frost misses with a few strikes there.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Cartwright scores with a hook.
Frost tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
A looping hook to the body misses from Cartwright. Frost does a little dance to reset his feet.
Frost has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Frost ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Cartwright ducks right into an uppercut from Frost.
Frost scores with a jab to the jaw.
Frost lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Cartwright circles away quickly and effectively.
Frost bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Cartwright's head backwards.
Cartwright ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Cartwright avoids the body shot from Frost.
Cartwright drops down looking for a counter takedown but Frost sprawls and moves away.
Cartwright throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Cartwright looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Frost misses with a wild body shot.
Cartwright getting the better of the striking in that exchange.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Frost uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Cartwright.
Cartwright throws a body shot but no joy.
Frost just misses with a punch to the body.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Frost lands with a good body shot.
Frost slips a jab and a cross from Cartwright.
Frost doesn't fully commit to the body shot counter.
Frost fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Cartwright, as that shot connected.
John Frost is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Good leg kick by Cartwright.
Frost cracks Cartwright with an open hand slap.
Frost avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Frost lands a nice shot to the body.
Cartwright gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.

Cartwright moves into range and clinches up with Frost.
Cartwright tries to score a body lock takedown but Frost shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Frost working on landing some head shots here - that one got through nicely.
Frost avoiding damage.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Frost's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Cartwright just misses with a punch to the body.
Frost let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land.
Cartwright scores with a nice head shot.
Cartwright tries to clinch but fails miserably

and Frost counters with a crisp one two that drops Cartwright! Frost thinks about following him to the mat for a moment but instead steps back and waves Cartwright to his feet! Cartwright is in big trouble!

Cartwright is rocked!
Frost finds Cartwright's off switch, with a big overhand right that connects perfectly to the side of the head! Cartwright flops back against the cage, eyes gazing into the distance. Frost lands an unnecessary shot before the referee has time to step in and end the fight. Brutal stuff but I'm sure Cartwright will be OK.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:38 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). John Frost!
John Frost is the new featherweight champion!
After winning the bout, John Frost thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
