Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Reggie Barnes (ranked 3608 p4p, 5932 weight class) and Osiris Maharajah (ranked 466 p4p, 606 weight class). Reggie Barnes has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Reggie Barnes!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Osiris Maharajah!
The judges for this bout are Eddie Farnsworth, Reed Andrews and John Kavanagh.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Maharajah misses with a right hand
and Barnes counters with a straight right hand.
Barnes throws a leg kick which misses Maharajah's front leg but catches the back leg as Maharajah tries to avoid it.
Barnes does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Maharajah shoots for a double leg takedown but Barnes sprawls well. He's pushed Maharajah's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Barnes just misses with a punch to the body.
Maharajah buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Barnes keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
A nice leg kick from Barnes, right into the meat of the thigh.
Jab from Maharajah.
Maharajah stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Barnes.
We've been told by Barnes's head coaches at Mentor Gym that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Maharajah lands a glancing blow to the side of Barnes's head.
Barnes walks into a left hand.
Maharajah jabs Barnes right on the nose. Barnes blinks but takes it well.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
A looping hook to the body misses from Maharajah. Barnes does a little dance to reset his feet.
Maharajah slips a jab and a cross from Barnes.
A little jabbing left from Maharajah on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.

Barnes throws a chopping leg kick but Maharajah manages to avoid taking any serious damage.
Barnes getting the better of the striking in that exchange.
Osiris Maharajah seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Maharajah catches Barnes with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
Barnes scores with a body shot.
Barnes throws a right and a left that Maharajah avoids nicely.
Barnes goes for a high kick. It partially lands.
Maharajah slips under a jab from Barnes.
Nice uppercut lands for Maharajah. That snapped Barnes's head back.
A decent looking cross lands there for Maharajah.
Reggie Barnes is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Maharajah with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Barnes to score with a decent uppercut.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Barnes tries to move into range but Maharajah moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
Barnes is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Maharajah avoids a kick to the body.
Maharajah has been working his punching technique in the buildup to the fight and it appears to be paying off.

Maharajah bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Maharajah looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
You can see the frustration on Barnes's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Barnes tries to bench press Maharajah off him but Maharajah keeps the position.

Barnes manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Maharajah wants to lay and pray for a moment but Barnes keeps working.

Maharajah is looking for a kimura but Barnes is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Maharajah to get the leverage.

Barnes manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Maharajah manages to get himself to full guard.

Maharajah had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Barnes defends it easily.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Maharajah is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Barnes is aware though and is defending well.
Maharajah utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Barnes trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.

That was a close round but I would say that Reggie Barnes will probably get the nod.

Maharajah ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
A lazy left from Maharajah finds it's target.
Barnes scores with a sloppy right hand. Maharajah should have avoided that one.
Barnes walks into a left hand.
Barnes tries to work over Maharajah's front leg with a kick but Maharajah checks it.
Barnes throws a head kick that misses
and Maharajah counters with a nice body shot.
Barnes lands a nice looking body kick.
Barnes turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Barnes throws a series of punches but Maharajah avoids them all with ease.

Maharajah closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Barnes did well to prevent Maharajah getting side control.

Maharajah is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Barnes defends it well.
Well, if Maharajah is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Maharajah wants to pass to mount but Barnes is defending the position.

Maharajah is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Barnes is just riding it out for now. Maharajah eventually gives up the hold.

The fighters are battling for position here. Barnes manages to regain full guard. Nice work.

Maharajah drops back looking for a leg! Barnes is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Barnes manages to kick Maharajah off! Maharajah jumps back into Barnes's guard.

Maharajah seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Maharajah is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Barnes is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Barnes has escaped and now he's on top!

Maharajah looking to hit a scissor sweep but Barnes is one step ahead there.
Maharajah not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Maharajah is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Barnes stands up and waves to Maharajah to follow him.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

The fighters circling - Barnes throws out the jab but it was never going to land.

Barnes pivots, looking for a leg kick but Maharajah is out of range and Barnes settles back down.
Maharajah throws a right hand that misses
and Barnes counters with a slapping leg kick.

Barnes looks to land a combination but Maharajah avoids it well.
Maharajah shoots in looking for a takedown but Barnes manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Maharajah's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Maharajah closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Maharajah has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Barnes can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Barnes throws a series of punches but Maharajah avoids them all with ease.
Crunch! Maharajah slams his shin into Barnes's torso.
Maharajah shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Barnes as he avoids it easily.
It looked like Barnes was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
Maharajah throws a jab but it's blocked by Barnes.
Barnes lands with a good body shot.
Maharajah throws a push kick but Barnes slaps the foot to one side.
Maharajah throws a leg kick
and Barnes counters with a nice low kick that buckles Maharajah's knee momentarily.
Barnes has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Maharajah.
Barnes slips a straight right by Maharajah.
Maharajah avoids the body shot from Barnes.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Barnes misses with a jab to the body
and Maharajah counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Barnes ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Maharajah moves away.
Maharajah just misses with a punch to the body.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Reggie Barnes.
Well Barnes has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
