PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Daniel Cormier (ranked 6141 p4p, 4422 weight class) and Felix Silver (ranked 600 p4p, 0 weight class). Cormier comes to the cage accompanied by Face the Pain. Cormier is coming into this fight with a significant injury, which will no doubt have an effect on his cardio. Daniel Cormier has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Daniel Cormier!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Felix Silver!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fray, Chris Saunders and Micheangelo Fripello.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cormier showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Silver.
Cormier is breathing heavily.

Silver closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
The ground and pound from Silver seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
Silver misses with an attempted head punch from side control.
Silver wants to control but Cormier is keeping him busy.

Silver stands up.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Cormier is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Silver.

Daniel Cormier's cut is getting worse.

Silver gets the takedown into side control.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Silver advances nicely into full mount.
Cormier might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Silver takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Silver throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Silver looking to secure an arm triangle but Cormier defends it well.
Silver prevents Cormier from getting the reversal.
Cormier on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Cormier tries to get out of the position.
Cormier holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Silver tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.

Silver punching from mount but Cormier doing a good job of avoiding damage.
Silver looking to control but Cormier is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Cormier wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Silver.
Silver takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Silver looking to score a takedown here. Cormier is defending well but Silver drives through and ends up in Cormier's guard.
Silver tries to free his leg and advance position but Cormier is retaining full guard.

Silver stands and steps away. Cormier gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Silver closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Cormier is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Cormier is not content to let Silver control the position.
Silver is figuring out what he wants to do next.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Silver is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Cormier doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Silver.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Felix Silver dominated that round.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Silver lands a head kick!

Silver shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Cormier is refusing to be controlled, as Silver sits in half guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Silver is controlling the pace.

Cormier tries to get to full guard but Silver has control of the leg.

Silver is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Cormier is just riding it out for now. Silver eventually gives up the hold.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Silver content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Silver works his way into full mount!

Silver controlling the pace for now.

Silver can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Cormier is looking to escape.
Silver thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Cormier is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Silver wants to control the pace but Cormier is squirming around nicely.
Silver unloads with some shots from mount but Cormier bucks and avoids them well.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Cormier is squirming around, avoiding Silver's attempts to control the action.
Silver throws some wild stikes that Cormier manages to avoid easily.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Felix Silver showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!

Silver scores with a nice right hand.
Silver thuds his shin into the meat of Cormier's side.
Cormier has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by Silver.
Cormier keeps the fight on the outside.
Silver wants to clinch.
Cormier tries to counter with a takedown but Silver is quick to defend against it.
Daniel Cormier is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Silver darts in and clinches Cormier up against the cage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Silver gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Silver passes Cormier's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

Silver decides to stand up.

Cormier gets tackled into the cage by Silver. Silver maintains the clinch.
Silver stalling.
Cormier has Silver pressed against the cage, preventing Silver from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Silver tries to circle away but Cormier has him pinned against the cage.
Silver wants to get back to striking at distance but Cormier won't allow it.

Silver gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Cormier regains guard.

Silver decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Cormier, up you get!

Silver scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Cormier wants to control but Silver is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Silver not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Cormier knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Silver on the ground.

The referee calls for the fighters to work.

Silver is trying to work for a kimura but Cormier is defending well.

Silver decides to stand and escape the position.

Silver feints and as Cormier raises his hands in defense, Silver changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Cormier is trying to control the position but Silver postures up.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Silver wants to stand but Cormier is controlling his posture from full guard.
Cormier keeping moving, preventing Silver from controlling successfully.
Silver wants to get up but he can't break Cormier's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Daniel Cormier has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Silver passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Silver working away.
Cormier is looking to regain half guard here but Silver keeps moving and retains side control.

Silver stands up and beckons Cormier to his feet.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Cormier gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

And that's the end of the fight!
Felix Silver comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Silver has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
