The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McDonald with a lazy takedown attempt
and Eli counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Eli has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Eli there as he acknowledges the shot.
McDonald lands a lovely overhand right.

It looks like Tom Eli has been cut.
McDonald has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Ludus Magnus in the buildup to the fight.
McDonald misses with a body shot.
Eli closes the distance and lands a one-two.
Eli avoids the body shot from McDonald.
Eli throws out a counter right but McDonald avoids it with no problem.
McDonald slips a jab from Eli.
McDonald throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

Dave McDonald seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

It seemed like Eli was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.

McDonald throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
It seemed like Eli was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
McDonald throws a head kick that misses
and Eli counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
McDonald takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

McDonald closes the distance and pushes Eli back into the cage.
Eli lands with a left to the head.
Eli is pressed up against the cage. McDonald has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Eli down to the mat. Eli avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
