Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Matt Askren (ranked 1495 p4p, 1607 weight class) and Dominic Trujillo (ranked 217 p4p, 230 weight class). Dominic Trujillo has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 5 - 2, fighting out of Hilo, Matt Askren!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 29 - 16 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Dominic Trujillo!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Percy O'Donnell and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Askren uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Trujillo.
Trujillo throws a hook to the side of Askren's head but Askren sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Askren tries to close the distance and clinch up but Trujillo swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Trujillo swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Askren tries to counter with a takedown but Trujillo is quick to defend against it.
Askren throws a body punch but Trujillo moves out of range.
Trujillo looks to score with a jab to the body but Askren is just out of range.
Trujillo throws a hook but Askren avoids it easily.
Askren appears to be looking for a counter takedown.

Trujillo wants to take the fight to the mat but Askren manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.

Askren's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Askren looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.

The fighters circling - Askren throws out the jab but it was never going to land.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Askren enables Trujillo to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Askren manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Askren wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

Askren looking to sit in guard and control but Trujillo gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Askren wants to sweep here but Trujillo controlling him for the moment.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Dominic Trujillo seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Askren throws a push kick but Trujillo slaps the foot to one side.

Askren shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Askren showed some decent athleticism there.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Askren is looking to take a break and control but Trujillo is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Askren thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Trujillo is looking to control Askren's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Trujillo avoid being mounted?
Askren wants to pass to mount but Trujillo is defending the position.
Askren wants to control but Trujillo is keeping him busy.
Trujillo manages to get to full guard.
Trujillo lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Askren is staying active underneath Trujillo, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Trujillo has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Askren tries to roll over but Trujillo keeps him under control.
Askren has his hands clasped together around Trujillo's back. He's all about the action.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Askren takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.

Askren walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Trujillo checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!
