PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Lynton Miller (ranked 328 p4p, 293 weight class) and Ultima Koivisto (ranked 44 p4p, 38 weight class). Miller's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Tool - Sober. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 16 - 8 - 2, fighting out of Sydney, Lynton Miller!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 22 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Ultima Koivisto!
The judges for this bout are Chris Dean, Francis DeMontford and Darius Henderson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The fighters circle momentarily. Koivisto darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Koivisto has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Miller dives in and grabs Koivisto's left leg, looking for a takedown. Koivisto pushes down on Miller's head and hops out.
Miller dives in for a single leg takedown but Koivisto sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Koivisto misses with a hook from the clinch.
Miller wants a takedown but no success here.

We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Miller has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Koivisto is working away from the top position though.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Miller wants to get back to full guard.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Miller darts in looking for a takedown but Koivisto gets double underhooks and turns Miller into the cage.
Miller is working for takedown but Koivisto is calmly controlling the position for now.

Miller blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Koivisto tries a body shot but Miller blocks it.

Miller has hold of one of Koivisto's legs. Koivisto is fighting the takedown attempt but Miller gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.

Koivisto is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Koivisto wants to sweep here but Miller controlling him for the moment.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Koivisto is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Koivisto has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Miller lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
