Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Pat Joplin (ranked 1422 p4p, 1298 weight class) and Zhang Jun (ranked 91 p4p, 79 weight class). Joplin's entrance music is Janis Joplin - Cry Baby. A fine choice. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 19 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Pat Joplin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 17 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Zhang Jun!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Don Winkell and Percy O'Donnell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jun chopping away at his opponent's legs.
Jun lands with a slapping head kick.
It looks like Pat Joplin has been cut.
Jun misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

We've been informed that Jun has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result.
Joplin scores with a decent looking hook.
Joplin with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Jun to score with a decent uppercut.
Jun scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Jun swings and misses with a shot to the body
and Joplin counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Joplin.
Joplin tries to pull guard but Jun holds him up against the cage and eventually Joplin drops back down to his feet.
Jun blocks a body shot from Joplin.
Jun wants to break free but Joplin has control.
Jun breaks from the clinch.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Jun lands with a hook. Joplin tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Joplin is rocked!
Joplin steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Jun.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Jun lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Joplin has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Joplin and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.
Joplin half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.

We've been hearing reports that Joplin has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.
Jun looks to land a left hand but Joplin moved out of range nicely.
Joplin fails with an attempt to clinch.

and Joplin decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Jun's guard.

Jun is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Jun would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Joplin has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Jun can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Jun trying to control but Joplin is working from the bottom.
Joplin is looking to cinch up a triangle. Jun throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Joplin's body to avoid the submission. Joplin has instead reached around Jun's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Joplin arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.
