PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between D.D Panda (ranked 3908 p4p, 3208 weight class) and Buster White (ranked 475 p4p, 401 weight class). White has chosen Whiskey Myers - Stone as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, D.D Panda!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Buster White!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Don Winkell and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Panda gets tackled into the cage by White. White maintains the clinch.
A left hand lands to the body for White.
Good body shot from White.
Panda tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. White smiles and moves away.

White gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Panda trying to control but White is working from the bottom.
Panda looking to pass the guard.
Panda preventing the sweep.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Panda tries to free his leg and advance position but White is retaining full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Panda trying to control the position from guard on top but White is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Panda might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Panda trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
White is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
White is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.
Panda closes this distance looking for a takedown but White circles away.
Panda takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
White swats away the attempt to clinch by Panda.
White looks to score with a jab to the body but Panda is just out of range.
Good shot there by White.

It looks like D.D Panda has been cut.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Panda tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but White paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Panda looking to score a takedown here. White is defending well but Panda drives through and ends up in White's guard.
Panda stands and throws White's legs to the side, diving into side control.

Panda working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
White manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
It looks like White is going to stand back up.

Panda actively working from the bottom here.

Panda is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but White pulls his head out easily.
Panda wants to improve his position but White is controlling well.

Panda looking for submissions off his back.
Panda is looking to control White's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Panda avoid being mounted?

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Panda looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
White really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Panda. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Panda tries to get to full guard but White has control of the leg.

White stands up from half guard.
White lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by White.
White scores with a jab to the body.
Panda dodges the punch combination from White.
Panda tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but White defends well and Panda ends up having to push White into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for D.D Panda. That's going to take a lot out of him.
White lands a left hand.

Panda manages to pull guard.
White wants to stand but Panda has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Panda is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

White told us pre-fight that he has been working on his escapes in training. Let's see if he can call on some of his new skills to get back to his feet.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Panda is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. White doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Panda.

Panda is working for a kimura but White is defending it quite comfortably.
White is looking to control Panda's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can White avoid being mounted?
White tries to get to full guard but Panda has control of the leg.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Buster White dominated that round.
The cut man is working on D.D Panda's cut.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Panda stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from White.

White darts in and clinches Panda up against the cage.
Panda jumps guard but White turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Panda fails to pull guard.
White scores with a shoulder strike.
White scores with a shot to the side of Panda's head.
I was talking to Panda's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.
Panda is trying to pull guard but White has him pressed against the cage.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for D.D Panda. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Panda tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. White smiles and moves away.

White moves into the clinch.
White scores with an uppercut up the middle.
White softening up his opponent with strikes, against the cage.
White lands with a short shot to the head.
White lands with a left to the head.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
White lands a body punch in the clinch.
White pushes Panda back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.
White gets through Panda's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.
White lands a hook to the side of the head.

That's one minute gone in the round.
White lands a nice shot to the body.
Panda tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. White just stands there and leans against the cage.

Panda decides to pull guard.

White decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Panda, up you get!
White cracks Panda with a good jab.
White looks to land a combination. Panda sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
Panda takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Buster White seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
White scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Panda doesn't seem bothered though.
White connects with the punch.

D.D Panda's cut is getting worse.
Panda is sent reeling backwards by a solid uppercut. He barely regains his balance and White moves in for the kill throwing a continuous barrage of punches that force the ref to step in.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:36 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Buster White!
After winning the bout, Buster White thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
