Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Joe Gatsby (ranked 3145 p4p, 1314 weight class) and Settakian Fett (ranked 393 p4p, 179 weight class). Joe Gatsby has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 24 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Joe Gatsby! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 35 - 24 - 0, fighting out of New York, Settakian Fett! The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Timothy Bukovac and Frank Antenori.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight. Gatsby gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Fett counters with a left and a right that stings Gatsby. Gatsby shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Fett as he avoids it easily. Gatsby tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Fett defends well and Gatsby ends up having to push Fett into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Joe Gatsby. That's going to take a lot out of him. Fett misses with the head strike.
Fett prevents a body shot from Gatsby. Fett blocks a body shot from Gatsby. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Gatsby pushes Fett back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head. The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch. Gatsby blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Fett jumps guard but Gatsby turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing. Fett being controlled against the cage. Gatsby misses with some punches.
That's one minute gone in the round. Fett tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Gatsby just stands there and leans against the cage. Gatsby's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button! Fett digs a right hand underneath Gatsby's ribcage. Gatsby let out a lung full of air as it connected. Fett gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head. Gatsby breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Gatsby shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Fett counters with a three punch combo that has Gatsby backing up. Gatsby nods at Fett to acknowledge the strikes. Gatsby has a takedown stuffed.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Gatsby shoots in looking for a takedown. Fett tries to sprawl out of it but Gatsby keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Fett manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Fett keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Gatsby fails with the takedown.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Gatsby shoots in and drives through. Fett sprawls well. As Gatsby backs off Fett throws a huge counter combo but Gatsby manages to avoid it all. Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world. Gatsby goes for a double leg but Fett avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Fett continues to drive forward. A bit of stalling here from Fett.
Fett jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Gatsby walks away with a smile on his face. Fett gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. Gatsby goes for a double leg but Fett avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Fett continues to drive forward. Fett is trying to break the clinch but Gatsby is controlling him. A short right from Fett on the inside. Fett lands a shoulder strike. A short right from Gatsby. The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch. Fett fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Our sources have told us that Gatsby has been working on his elbows in the gym. Gatsby breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Gatsby misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Fett unleashes a big counter combination but Gatsby bobs and weaves and avoids any damage. No luck for Gatsby with that takedown attempt. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Gatsby fails with a takedown attempt. Despite the aggression on Fett's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Settakian Fett dominated that round. That's time! Gatsby's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. Gatsby dives in and grabs Fett's left leg, looking for a takedown. Fett pushes down on Gatsby's head and hops out. Fett throws a counter combo. Gatsby shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Fett counters with a left and a right that stings Gatsby. Gatsby closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Fett quickly recovers to half guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Fett is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Gatsby pulls his head out easily. Gatsby prevents Fett from improving his position. Gatsby is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Fett has managed to free his arm - good work.
That's one minute gone in the round. Fett trying to control but Gatsby postures up.
Fett desperately trying to maintain half guard. Fett is looking to regain full guard. He's left an arm up in the air though and Gatsby has latched onto it... Big trouble! Gatsby pivots for an armbar - it's in tight and it Fett is tapping in no time flat! Great counter grappling there from Gatsby!
