PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kong Cavallier (ranked 4145 p4p, 24518 weight class) and Dwayne Johnson (ranked 493 p4p, 601 weight class). Cavallier comes to the cage accompanied by he Young Punx - Ready For The Fight. Dwayne Johnson is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Kong Cavallier!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Dwayne Johnson!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Timothy Bukovac and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Johnson!

Cavallier has managed to clinch.
Cavallier misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Johnson.
Cavallier throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Johnson blocks it with crossed arms.
Both guys are working to get underhooks.

Cavallier has Johnson pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Cavallier pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Johnson tumbling to the mat - Cavallier dives into Johnson's guard.

Cavallier seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Johnson does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Johnson wants to control but Cavallier is keeping busy.
Johnson is looking for a sweep. Cavallier is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Cavallier will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Cavallier slips a nice elbow through Johnson's hands, connecting with Johnson's forehead.
Johnson wants to get back to full guard.
Cavallier content to control rather than advance.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Cavallier working over Johnson with some ground and pound. Johnson looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
Cavallier lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Johnson should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Cavallier postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Johnson to stand up.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Cavallier is defended easily by Johnson.

Johnson tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Cavallier attempts a counter takedown but Johnson avoids it well and moves away.

Cavallier gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Cavallier wants the takedown. Johnson is fighting it off but Cavallier persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Johnson's guard against the cage.
Cavallier is working Johnson over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Johnson really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Cavallier. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Cavallier keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Johnson's head.
Cavallier wants to control from the top but Johnson keeps moving.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Johnson working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Cavallier doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Cavallier manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Cavallier stuffs the takedown attempt from Johnson. Johnson gets slowly back to his feet.
Cavallier seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym.
Cavallier takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.

Cavallier rushes Johnson and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Cavallier misses with a knee to the head.
Johnson changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Cavallier fights it off and pushes away nicely.

A little jabbing left from Johnson on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Cavallier seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Johnson throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

Cavallier decides to stand up, so the ref orders Johnson to his feet.

Johnson throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Cavallier closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Johnson did well to prevent Cavallier getting side control.

Cavallier stands up out of the half guard.

Cavallier feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Cavallier, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
