Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Cory McDonnell (ranked 538 p4p, 1522 weight class) and William Snowdon (ranked 80 p4p, 210 weight class). McDonnell comes to the cage accompanied by Jorge Quintero - 300 Violin Orchestra. This should be fireworks!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 43 - 26 - 3, fighting out of Las Vegas, Cory McDonnell!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 24 - 9 - 0, fighting out of London, William Snowdon!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Jack Bonds and Percy O'Donnell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Snowdon shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. McDonnell is trying to defend but Snowdon finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Snowdon wants to work for an arm triangle but McDonnell is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Snowdon is trying to work for a kimura but McDonnell is defending well.
McDonnell keeping hold of Snowdon's head, controlling as best he can.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Snowdon passes McDonnell's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
McDonnell wants to improve his position but Snowdon is controlling well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Snowdon is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Snowdon is pressing down on McDonnell's thigh, looking to free his foot. McDonnell is holding on for now.
Snowdon seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but McDonnell does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Snowdon is going oldschool here, as he tries to force McDonnell to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so McDonnell shrugs it off.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

McDonnell connects with a crisp jab.
McDonnell buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
McDonnell displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Snowdon.

McDonnell throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Cory McDonnell has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of William Snowdon.

The fighters circling - McDonnell throws out the jab but it was never going to land.

and Snowdon counters with a lovely shot to the body.
Snowdon shoots in looking for a takedown. McDonnell tries to sprawl out of it but Snowdon keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. McDonnell manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Snowdon shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. McDonnell defends it nicely.
McDonnell leaves Snowdon with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Snowdon looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Snowdon fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
McDonnell feinted there with a counter leg kick.
McDonnell looking to land some kicks to the body here.
Snowdon takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.

A momentary lapse in concentration from McDonnell enables Snowdon to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. McDonnell manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
McDonnell is looking to stand back up but Snowdon counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by McDonnell.
William Snowdon has got the better of the ground game so far.

Snowdon works his foot free and advances to mount.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Snowdon is working for a guillotine from mount but McDonnell frees his head quite easily.

Snowdon goes for an armbar but he's not got it… McDonnell turns into him and now he's in Snowdon's guard.
McDonnell stays in close to Snowdon's body and controls the position.

Snowdon had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. McDonnell defends it easily.

McDonnell avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

McDonnell got a little sloppy there for a moment and Snowdon has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, McDonnell has managed to get both his arms back between Snowdon's legs - danger averted.

That's time! McDonnell's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

Snowdon with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling McDonnell to score with a decent uppercut.
Snowdon fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but McDonnell avoids it really well and circles away.
Snowdon closes the distance and clinches up with McDonnell, looking for a takedown. Snowdon pushes McDonnell against the cage but McDonnell circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
No luck for Snowdon with that takedown attempt.
It looked like McDonnell was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Snowdon.

Snowdon shoots for a takedown but McDonnell saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

McDonnell is looking for a sweep. Snowdon is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
