PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Cajetan Shashi (ranked 6037 p4p, 2622 weight class) and Bea Mason (ranked 553 p4p, 337 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 16 - 15 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Cajetan Shashi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 18 - 28 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Bea Mason!
The judges for this bout are Ren Mimura, Kenichi Hosakawa and Shirou Masuda.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shashi wants to clinch up but Mason keeps it at a distance.

Mason clinches.
Mason wants to take the fight to the mat but Shashi manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.

Shashi's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Shashi misses with a head kick.
Mason lands a lovely overhand right.

Mason closes the distance and clinches.

Shashi gets a trip takedown into half guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Shashi trying to advance position but Mason counters by regaining guard.
Mason is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Mason is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Shashi defends well.
Mason striking off his back but it's not causing Shashi any problems.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Shashi accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Shashi thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Mason looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Mason is trying to hold Shashi in close to prevent damage but Shashi has managed to pass into half guard.

Shashi is trying to work for a kimura but Mason is defending well.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Mason gets back to full guard.
Shashi trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Mason controls Shashi momentarily but Shashi frees himself.
Mason keeping moving, preventing Shashi from controlling successfully.
Shashi works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Shashi wants to take a breather but Mason is having none of it.
Mason avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Shashi.

Mason makes his way to full guard, as Shashi worked for a kimura.
Mason trying to keep a closed guard but Shashi is proving a slippery customer.
Shashi looking to sit in guard and control but Mason gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Mason working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

Shashi has a closed guard, preventing Mason from standing up.
Mason is looking to work some ground and pound but Shashi has wrist control.

Shashi controls Mason momentarily but Mason frees himself.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Shashi is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Bea Mason will probably get the nod.
That's time! Shashi's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Mason keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Shashi punishes Mason's body with a nice straight punch.

Mason drives through and clinches with Shashi against the ropes.

Shashi manages to break the clinch.
Cajetan Shashi is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Mason has managed to clinch.
Shashi goes for a takedown in the clinch but Mason prevents it.
Shashi looking to stall.

Mason has hold of one of Shashi's legs. Shashi is fighting the takedown attempt but Mason gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.

Shashi looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Shashi throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Mason escapes and throws Shashi's legs to the side, diving into side control!

Mason wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Shashi, who protects the arm well.

Shashi is trying to work for a sweep but Mason has mounted him!
Mason throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Shashi because Mason loaded up on that one.

Mason working for a submission but Shashi is keeping him at bay.
Mason avoids the attempt from Shashi to control.
Mason sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!

Shashi wants to use the ropes to get back to his feet here.
Shashi sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.
Bea Mason has got the better of the ground game so far.
Shashi trying to hold on to Mason's head to control him but Mason postures up.
Mason wants to stand up but Shashi has a hold of him and won't allow it.

Shashi has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Mason is working away from the top position though.
Shashi is in trouble now - Mason has advanced to mount!
Shashi manages to regain half guard. Good work.

Mason is looking to advance position but Shashi won't allow it.

Bea Mason showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!

Mason shoots in but Shashi avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Shashi tries to keep at a distance but Mason has taken the fight into the clinch.

Mason jumps guard.
Mason is trying to keep Shashi in close.

Shashi lying in Mason's guard like a wet fish here, stalling away. Mason decides he's had enough of all that nonsense - he escapes his hips and locks up an armbar! Wow, that was slick! Shashi taps! This one is aaaaaaaaaaall over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:47 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Bea Mason!
Jumping up and down and very excited, Bea Mason waved his t-shirt featuring Brooklyn Apothecary's logo in front of the cameras.
